What is included in Cardiovascular Services?

The overall pool of cases is defined by any diagnosis that is included in the Sg2 category of cardiovascular services based on ICD-10 diagnosis codes.

How do we categorize cases within Cardiovascular Services?

Historically, we have had several legacy definitions used for different purposes, but none of these have been sufficient:

Legacy DRG and Cath Lab Definition: Used primarily for departmental billing and inpatient crosswalks.
Old 2020 Inpatient/Outpatient Definition: A custom hospital model combining DRGs, CPTs, and DX codes.
Dr. Anderson's Outpatient Definition: An expanded clinical outpatient procedural and diagnostic scope.
CommonSpirit Health (CSH) National: Has some cases defined, but remains a narrow national definition capturing only a subset of major therapeutic cases.
Boston Scientific: Provides a very detailed coding guide, but it is only partially completed and is not categorized for every different type of procedure.

This lack of standardization presents a problem that this engine is designed to address. By creating a comprehensive definition that accounts for all case types, we can accurately aggregate volumes and build unified data visualizations.
